Today, Ibtisama Development Foundation hosted this month’s regular Education Cluster meeting at its headquarters in Marib Governorate, attended by Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Bakri, Deputy Director of the Education Office, and Mr. Ahmed Rafiq Al-Qafili, representing the Education Coordinator of the Executive Unit for IDPs in Marib. Several representatives from humanitarian organizations and educational support partners in Marib and Al-Jawf Governorates were also in attendance.
The meeting opened with a welcoming and introductory speech, followed by remarks from Ms. Ahlam Ahmed, Education Cluster Coordinator, who emphasized the importance of supporting and advancing education in areas impacted by displacement. She underscored the need for collective efforts to achieve sustainable education for students despite the significant challenges facing the sector.
On behalf of the Education Coordinator in the Executive Unit for IDPs in Marib, Mr. Ahmed Rafiq Al-Qafili delivered a comprehensive presentation on the ongoing displacement trends in the region, highlighting the urgent educational needs, particularly in areas that lack adequate infrastructure to accommodate the growing population influx.
Participants discussed educational interventions by partners in Marib and Al-Jawf, identifying the key challenges faced in the field, such as teacher shortages, inadequate school supplies, and the absence of suitable educational facilities. Opportunities to strengthen educational support were also explored, including enhancing partnerships among on-ground organizations to develop educational programs.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants stressed the importance of continued coordination among all educational sector partners to ensure access to education for students in affected areas.
